You can create a folder in Windows 10 using the File Explorer or the right-click context menu.
Creating a Folder Using File Explorer:
- Open File Explorer: Press Windows key + E or click the File Explorer icon in the taskbar.
- Navigate to the desired location: Use the navigation pane on the left to browse to the folder where you want to create the new folder.
- Click the "New folder" button: Look for the "New folder" button in the "Home" tab of the ribbon or in the "Quick access toolbar" at the top of the window.
- Type the folder name: The new folder will appear with a default name like "New folder". Simply type over this with your desired folder name.
- Press Enter: The new folder will be created with the name you entered.
Creating a Folder Using the Right-Click Context Menu:
- Navigate to the desired location: Open File Explorer and browse to the folder where you want to create the new folder.
- Right-click an empty space: Right-click anywhere in the empty space within the folder.
- Select "New" and then "Folder": A context menu will appear. Select "New" and then "Folder".
- Type the folder name: A new folder with the default name "New Folder" will appear. Type over this with your desired folder name.
- Press Enter: The new folder will be created with the name you entered.
Example:
If you want to create a folder named "Documents" inside your "Downloads" folder, you would:
- Open File Explorer and navigate to your "Downloads" folder.
- Right-click an empty space in the "Downloads" folder.
- Select "New" and then "Folder".
- Type "Documents" in the new folder's name field.
- Press Enter.
You now have a folder named "Documents" inside your "Downloads" folder.
