How to Set a Password for a Folder in Windows 11?

Published in Computer Security 1 min read

You can't directly set a password for a folder in Windows 11, but you can use a tool called File Encryption to protect your folders with a password. Here's how:

  1. Right-click on the folder you want to protect.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Go to the General tab and click on Advanced.
  4. Check the box for Encrypt contents to protect data.
  5. Click Apply and then OK to save the changes.

Now, whenever you try to access the folder, you will be prompted for your Windows account password.

Note: This method encrypts the folder's contents, not the folder itself. You can also use third-party encryption software to protect your folders with more advanced features.
