How Do I See What Is Using My Webcam?

Published in Computer Security 1 min read

You can check which programs are currently accessing your webcam by looking at the taskbar or system tray icons.

  • Windows: Look for a small camera icon, which usually indicates an active webcam connection.
  • macOS: Open System Preferences and click on Security & Privacy. Select the Privacy tab, and then choose Camera. You'll see a list of apps that have recently accessed your camera.

You can also check your system settings or privacy settings for a more detailed view of which programs have permission to use your webcam.

  • Windows: Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
  • macOS: Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Camera.

These settings allow you to manage which programs can access your webcam.
