You can edit custom fields in AutoCAD using the Data Manager tool.

Here's how:

  2. Select the Custom Field: In the Data Manager window, navigate to the Custom Fields section.
  3. Edit the Field: Right-click on the custom field you want to edit and choose Edit.
  4. Make Changes: In the Edit Custom Field dialog box, modify the field's name, data type, description, and other settings as needed.
  5. Save Changes: Click OK to save your edits.

You can also edit custom fields through the Properties window when working with objects.

Example: Let's say you have a custom field called "Project Name" that you want to change to "Project Code."

  1. Open the Data Manager and locate the "Project Name" field.
  2. Right-click on the field and choose "Edit."
  3. In the dialog box, change the field name to "Project Code."
  4. Click "OK" to save the changes.

Now, the custom field will be named "Project Code" and will reflect the updated name in all associated objects.

Tips:

  • Use descriptive names for custom fields. This makes it easier to identify and manage them.
  • Choose the appropriate data type for your custom fields. This ensures data integrity and accuracy.
