What Color Is a Dog's Blood?

Published in Animal Science 1 min read

A dog's blood is red, just like human blood.

The red color comes from hemoglobin, a protein found in red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout the body. Hemoglobin contains iron, which gives blood its characteristic red color.

While the color of blood is the same across most mammals, there are some slight variations depending on the species. For instance, a dog's blood might appear slightly darker than human blood.
