Baby ducks, also known as ducklings, can go in the water as soon as they are dry. Ducklings are born with a natural instinct to swim, and they will often start paddling around in shallow water almost immediately after hatching.
However, there are a few things to keep in mind:
- Supervise ducklings closely. They are still very small and vulnerable, and they can easily get lost or injured in deep water.
- Make sure the water is shallow and calm. Ducklings are not strong swimmers yet, and they can easily be overwhelmed by strong currents or waves.
- Avoid introducing ducklings to cold water. Ducklings are sensitive to cold temperatures, and they can easily get chilled.
It's important to note that ducklings should never be forced into the water. They will instinctively know when they are ready.
Once ducklings are a few weeks old, they will be more confident swimmers and can handle deeper water.
